West Central Minnesota lake finder
The Alexandria Chain of Lakes alone covers about 6,513 acres across the 5 connected lakes on this site, and that is one county in West Central Minnesota. Filter the lakes Janet works by county and size, then open any lake for acreage, depth, public access, nearby towns and a search for homes currently for sale on it.

How to use the finder
Pick a county, set a minimum size, and the grid narrows. Each lake page lists what a buyer needs before the first showing: surface acres, maximum depth, whether there is a public access, which towns are closest, and a link to every active listing on that lake in NorthstarMLS. Where a figure is not available from the Minnesota DNR or the county, the field is left blank rather than guessed.
The most-searched lakes in Janet's footprint are Lake Miltona, Lake Osakis (6,389 acres across Douglas and Todd counties, per the Minnesota DNR), Lake Carlos and Lake Le Homme Dieu on the Alexandria chain, and Green Lake in Spicer.
Which county?
Douglas County holds the Alexandria chain and Lake Miltona. Pope County has Lake Minnewaska at Glenwood and Starbuck. Todd County shares Lake Osakis and has a string of smaller lakes toward Long Prairie. Kandiyohi County's lakes cluster around Spicer and New London. Otter Tail County, to the north, is known for the sheer number of its lakes. Each county hub links to its lakes.
What Janet checks on every lake purchase
Lake property is where a good agent earns the commission. Beyond the house itself: the shoreline setback for that lake's classification, the septic compliance certificate, the well, dock and lift ownership, whether the frontage is deeded or through an outlot, road maintenance and plowing, and the lake's flood history. Janet works with buyers and sellers of lake homes, seasonal cabins and lake-area lots across the region; one cabin buyer called her "extremely knowledgeable of lakes, homes and their backgrounds."
Before you settle on a lake, read how to research its water quality and, if you have dogs, where to check for algae bloom advisories. Read the buying a lake home guide or the selling a lake home guide, or see Longview Circle for buildable lots on Smith Lake near Osakis.
